Fundraising |
- 11 Jul 10: On
28th July this year I will be taking part in the
London to Paris bike ride
to raise funds for
Cancer Research UK and The
Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief. It
should take 4 days and we cycle anything up to 90
miles a day. June Bachmann and I originally planned
to do this trip (and raise money) in the Autumn of
2008, but June was prevented from doing this when
her cancer returned. June passed away in February
2009. I have therefore chosen to do this trip in her
memory, and to raise monies in order to fight the
disease that killed her. I have attached some
information about what this entails, why I am doing
this challenge, information on the charities
involved, and a sponsorship form. If you feel that
you can raise a bit of sponsorship for me, I'd
really appreciate it. They really are good causes.
If you decide that you can help raise funds please
just let me know. Thanks for reading this.

- 10 Jun 10: "It's a
Knockout" for Guernsey Cheshire Home and the
Guernsey Multiple Sclerosis Society. On Sat 24 Jul
2010.

- 10 Jun 10: "Race
for Life" for Cancer Research UK. On Sun 11 Jul 2010. I am doing the Race for Life
again this year as I am not participating in the
Sark to Jersey which is the day before. If anyone
would like to sponsor me I am trying to run it this
year – but might end up walking bits! I have already
exceeded my target fund raising so no pressure now
but if you would like to sponsor someone, and if
that person is me, please go to
http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/carollepage1.
Thanks for your support – financial or otherwise!
Cheers Carol

Spare Coxes/Rowers |
If you're looking for a spare rower, or a
crew to row for on a part-time/full-time basis, why not post the information
on this notice board?
- 06 Jul 10: Two experienced rowers are looking
to visit from Tees rowing club and would love to take
part in the Rocquaine Regatta. If anyone can help in
letting them borrow a pairs boat or has space for them
to join a fours team, please let
Matt know. Best care of borrowed equipment is
promised
- 20 May 10: Rachel Cleal has put her name
forward as a novice rower who is keen to get involved in
the sport. This would apply to ladies or mixed.
Her contact number is 07911 738898 or send an
email.
- 18 May 10: Pete Beausire is a novice rower
and is keen to train and race with any crews in need of
a spare rower. Please
email Pete or call 07781 112476
- 14 Apr 10: If anyone needs a female sub I
would like to both train and race, however I work for
myself so can't commit to 3 training sessions a week!
Many thanks,
Sue Watson (was Sue Walters) M: 07781 122449
- 14 Apr 10: I am currently sweep rowing for
university, this being my last year, and I want to join
the rowing club on my return to Guernsey as a spare
rower. Although I have no sculling experience, my
fitness is at a very high competitive level and I will
bend over backwards to be able to row! I am available
from the 16th of June.
Matt Gill 07964497622, 07781437438
- 05 Mar 10: For the lady rowers amongst us. Do
you like to be a part of a Crew but cannot commit to
every race due to home or other commitments. The
Spearpoint Crew is a mixed sliding fours crew and I am
looking for 1 or 2 ladies (novice or experienced rowers)
to be sub rowers for the crew when the ladies in the
permanent crew are unable to race due to their own home
or other commitments. I know I will be short one female
rower for races on the 30th April and 31 July this year.
If you would like to be a part of the Spearpoint Team as
a sub rower and perhaps also join us in our training
sessions when you can make it, please contact me on:
gmckee@bwcigroup.com
- 23 Jan 10: I have set up a fours team and am
hiring a club boat this season but am still looking for
a cox. If anyone has done the job in the past and would
be happy to come back or any “newbies” interested in
having a go, please contact me
Henri Buensoz. Home 721726. Mobile 07781 109965 or
07781 449154
NB: Spare rowers may be required to pay single day membership
and race entries. People applying for single day
membership can only do so 3 times before they are obliged to become a full
racing member. For further details, please refer to the current
membership form

Spare
Guard Boats |
- 18 Jul 10: Vince Le Sauvage is keen to guard
boat rowers on the odd occasion. He has a 38 foot Aqua
Star. If interested, please
email
v.lesauvage@yahoo.com
- 19 Feb 09: I have a 30 foot boat and wonder
if anyone requires any guard boat cover? The boat is
capable of delivering / retrieving rowing skiffs, etc,
plus their crew! My angle is to cover the cost of fuel
and be out on the water in a less energetic way!!!
